Partial eclipse at EISCAT
Document Actions
There will be a total solar eclipse on August 1 whose track will pass north of Svalbard and the EISCAT Svalbard Radar
The eclipse shadow is expected to generate various waves and other effects in the inonsphere and neutral atmosphere. The EISCAT Svalbard Radar, and the EISCAT UHF system on the mainland (in Tromso, Kiruna, and Sodankyla) will run special programs to study these effects. Many other instruments, including some of the other incoherent scattter radars will also be operating to capture as much information as possible about this exciting event.
